About our International Foundation

The INTO International Foundation, leading to the INTO Level 3 Diploma in International Foundation Studies, is designed to equip students to succeed at undergraduate level. The program is delivered and assessed at UK RQF level 3 and tailored to suit the specific needs of international students – typically non-native English speakers who are unfamiliar with the expectations of the university education system.

We combine academic and cultural preparation with study skills development, focusing on:

  • critical and independent thinking
  • collaborative group work
  • oral and written communication
  • confidence using English professionally and socially
  • appreciation of different academic cultures.

Following successful completion of this program, students can continue to Year 1 of their undergraduate degree at a choice of global universities.

What to expect from students

Students who successfully complete this program will be able to:

  • demonstrate strong academic English skills, including clear writing, accurate referencing and effective verbal communication.
  • work independently and collaboratively in an academic environment.
  • apply subject-specific knowledge, practical skills and theoretical understanding to relevant tasks.
  • interpret, evaluate and analyse information using appropriate numerical or statistical methods.
  • appreciate diverse perspectives and, where relevant, understand basic laboratory practices.

Following successful completion of this program, students can continue to Year 1 of their undergraduate degree at a choice of global universities.

Our delivery model

Curriculum

Our curriculum provides students with the academic knowledge and study skills for undergraduate success. They'll complete core and mathematics modules (if applicable), plus subject-specific modules related to their chosen degree.

To pass and receive their Foundation Diploma award, students must earn 120 credits from all module options. Upon achieving the required grades, they can continue to the first year of their degree.

Structure, delivery and assessment

The INTO International Foundation is typically delivered in 8–9 months (1 academic year), over 3 terms or 2 semesters depending on partner preference. Some partners may choose to offer intensive or extended options, giving them the opportunity to structure the program in line with their students' needs.

INTO programs are typically delivered in person via face-to-face teaching. However, alternative online modes of delivery may be considered where appropriate. All examinations and tests are required to be face-to-face.

Our assessments have been developed with a variety of academic backgrounds in mind. However, we still maintain a rigorous assessment process to ensure high-quality university admissions.

Trusted university

Pathways

INTO Qualifications programs are recognised by a growing network of the world's leading universities. When they successfully complete their program, students will benefit from:

  • direct progression: streamlined entry to their chosen university, plus a wide range of degree subject and study options
  • a global network: opportunities at universities across multiple regions, including many top-ranked options known globally for academic excellence.
